This is part of Aeon’s plans to open 16 new shopping malls in Vietnam by 2025.

Binh Duong authorities have recommended two sites with areas of 4.8 hectares and 4ha in Uyen Hung ward, Tan Uyen town.

Aeon had opened its first mall in the province and second in the country in November 2014. The $95 million Aeon Binh Duong Canary mall covers seven hectares in Thuan An town.

The first Aeon mall in Vietnam was built January the same year in HCMC.

The Japanese retail giant said in 2020 it would invest $2 billion in expanding its presence across Vietnam, eyeing a total 25 malls by 2025.

Aeon Mall Vietnam CEO Nakagawa Tetsuyuki reconfirmed the target at a meeting with Hanoi Party chief Dinh Tien Dung in mid May this year. He said they would open an additional 16 shopping malls in the nation by 2025, including three or four in Hanoi.

Aeon has seven operational malls in Vietnam now: two in HCMC, three in Hanoi, and one each in Binh Duong and Hai Phong. Another two are in the pipeline in Hanoi.
