Weploy Vietnam is also a frontline unit in the Southeast Asian country in applying digital technology in providing and managing temporary laborers. One of its goals is to connect the supply and demand of the workforce in Vietnam, helping both employers and job seekers with a few touches on their smartphones.

The business’s strengths include a pacey process of legal procedures and professional training sessions for job candidates without any fees for laborers, said Trang Cong Phat, co-founder and CEO of Weploy Vietnam. Initially, Weploy Vietnam offers 9,000 seasonal jobs in 250 businesses.

Temporary employment is a popular solution to optimize costs for businesses in sectors with seasonal factors. For example, the agriculture-fisheries-forestry sector is heavily reliant on the timing of crops, while some manufacturing businesses are dependent on orders given by their customers.

Under existing laws, the overtime work limit for seasonal workers is 40 hours per month and 300 hours per year.

Vietnam simultaneously faces both issues of labor shortage and unemployment. While reviewing the labor sector last year, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung said in the last months of 2022, over 600 companies across the country had to cut 53,000 staff due to a reduction in orders. However, at the same time, other businesses had a recruitment demand of 300,000. He added that suitable allocation of the workforce is critical to addressing the problem.
