Every week, CMIT, a deep-water port, hosts ships on 33 weekly routes, 23 of which connect to the U.S.

On September 7-8, 2021, the port received Cosco Shipping Aquarius, the biggest shipping vessel to have arrived in Vietnam. The 20,119-TEU ship of Orient Overseas Container Line was also bound for North America.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau province is focusing on developing its maritime economy to use its 165 kilometer long coast and a continental shelf area of 100,000 square kilometers. The province’s plan features 69 ports, of which 48 with an annual capacity of 141.5 million tons are operational.

According to the national seaports plan for the 2020-2030 period, ports in the province will handle 128-141 million tons of goods in 2025 and 167-198 million tons in 2030.
