Danish factory blaze claims three workers in southern Vietnam

Three workers died from burns following an accident at the Danish-backed ScanCom Vietnam factory in Binh Duong province Friday.

Three workers died from burns following an accident at the Danish-backed ScanCom Vietnam factory in Binh Duong province Friday.

A fire broke out inside a wood and sawdust storage facility at ScanCom Vietnam Co., Ltd., a producer of outdoor furniture, in Song Than 1 Industrial Park, Di An town, Binh Duong.

The southern province dispatched four specialized vehicles and firefighters to the scene. The flames dowsed, cleaners had re-entered the facility when an overhead tank of smoldering wood dust fell on four.

The workers were taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment, with three severely burnt transferred to Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, where two died Saturday. The third succumbed to injury Sunday.

Binh Duong Police is investigating the case.
