Energy giant Petrovietnam appoints new general director

Board members of state-owned Petrovietnam have appointed Le Ngoc Son the new general director of the group for a five-year term starting Monday.

Board members of state-owned Petrovietnam have appointed Le Ngoc Son the new general director of the group for a five-year term starting Monday.

The decision was signed by the chairman of the Commission for Management of State Capital at Enterprises. Son was previously a deputy general director of the energy giant.

Son, born in 1972, holds a master's degree in oil and gas field evaluation and management, and is an oil and gas drilling technology engineer.

He boasts nearly 30 years in the oil and gas industry in different positions. Before being appointed Petrovietnam general director, he served as head of the group's oil and gas exploitation department and CEO of the Phu Quoc Petroleum Operating Company, a subsidiary of Petrovietnam.

In March 2021, Son was named the group's deputy general director in charge of exploration & production.
