Fake gasoline producers face justice in southern Vietnam

Police in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on Monday detained nine people for mass production and supply of fake gasoline.

Ba Ria-Vung Tau's police on Sunday arrested Vo Hoai Phuong, 38, owner of Gia Khiem Transport Trading Co., Ltd., for producing and trading fake gasoline.

Phuong is the legal representative of the Gia Khiem Vung Tau gas station in Phu My town run by Gia Khiem Transport Trading Co., Ltd.

At 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, investigators and police of Phu My town caught Tran Van Hieu and Nguyen Phuc Hoang red-handed pumping chemicals from a tanker truck containing over 10 tons of chemicals into a fuel storage tank at the Gia Khiem Vung Tau gas station.

Meanwhile, some other tanker trucks were found containing 20,000 liters of gasoline pumped from the gas station’s fuel storage sump, destined for other sites across the province.

Investigating authorities have conducted an urgent search of the petrol station and Vo Hoai Phuong's residence, seizing coloring powder, octane testing equipment and relevant documents.
