Hanoi will host 31 fireworks displays across 30 locations on the Lunar New Year's Eve, January 22, 2023, the city People's Committee announced on Friday.

The central district of Hoan Kiem, home to the iconic Hoan Kiem (Sword) Lake, will have two fireworks displays, while the remaining 29 districts and townships one each.

Specifically, two high-altitude fireworks displays combined with low-range fireworks and firebending will take place in Hoan Kiem district: in front of the New Hanoi newspaper's headquarters and in front of Hanoi Post Office.

Two similar displays include one at Lac Long Quan Flower Garden in front of the Tay Ho district People's Committee gate; and one at the F1 racetrack campus in Phu Do ward, Nam Tu Liem district.

High-altitude fireworks displays combined with low-range fireworks will be organized at the Monument Island of Uncle Ho and Uncle Ton in Dong Da district and Thong Nhat Park in Hai Ba Trung district; Van Quan Lake in Ha Dong district; and Son Tay Ancient Citadel in Son Tay township.

The remaining 24 districts will host low-altitude fireworks displays, with locations being lakes, parks or stadiums.

Previously, in 2020, Hanoi only set off fireworks at Thong Nhat Park and in 2021, none due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
