HCMC detects over 360 frauds in a year

Many crimes involved suspects using social networks to make friends, pretend to send gifts and pretend to be airport staff, customs and tax officers to steal money; setting up a social network account or hijacking someone else's social network account to trick relatives and friends out of money; and setting up a website with false content or creating a social network account to sell items to appropriate money.

Currently, the People's Committee of HCMC is studying how to overcome loopholes and shortcomings in opening and using bank accounts.

The city's government also proposed the State Bank of Vietnam to strengthen inspection, in order to promptly detect those who use fake information or buy other people's information to register and use multiple bank accounts to commit illegal acts.

It also proposed the Ministry of Information and Communications tighten the registration and use of mobile phone number subscribers; regularly inspect and handle cases of lax management of registration and use of mobile phone subscribers.
