Under new rules that took effect on January 1 this year, new cars made in or imported into the country have to meet Euro 5 standards. Honda Brio only meets Euro 4 standards. Therefore, Honda Vietnam said it was stopping distribution of the hatchback model imported from Indonesia.

It did not disclose any information about this model being replaced or an upgraded version being introduced.

After Brio’s exit, the three cars remaining in the segment are: Hyundai Grand i10, Kia Morning, and Toyota Wigo.

Honda Vietnam sold 2,906 Brio units in 2020 and 2,870 last year. It reported sales of 1,936 Brio cars in the first six months of this year.

It is the smallest car in Honda's global lineup as of 2022, excluding kei cars in the Japanese market.
