Mercedes-Benz Vietnam recalls German-built SUVs over electrical malfunction

Mercedes-Benz Vietnam is recalling 144 SUVs built in Germany and distributed locally due to an electrical system problem that could cause overheating, Vietnam Register has announced.

Mercedes-Benz Vietnam is recalling 144 SUVs built in Germany and distributed locally due to an electrical system problem that could cause overheating, Vietnam Register has announced.

The recall involves the GLE450 4MATIC, GLS450 4MATIC, and AMG GLE 53 4MATIC (type number X167) SUVs manufactured from July 2019 to November 2021, the Vietnamese regulator said. The recall is expected to finish by December 31, 2025.

All maintenance and repairs, expected to last 90 minutes per vehicle, will take place at Mercedes-Benz Vietnam service stations and authorized dealers.

In the Vietnamese market, the GLE450 4Matic is priced at VND4.4 billion (more than $189,000) and the GLS450 4Matic, at VND5.14 billion (over $221,000).
