Quang Ngai province chairman detained for accepting bribes

The investigative agency also arrested Ha Hoang Viet Phuong, head of the Industrial Parks and Dung Quat Economic Zone Management Board, and former deputy director of Quang Ngai's Department of Transport, according to Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security.

Other arrests included Pham Ngoc Thuy, deputy director of the Department of Transport, former head of the department's quality and technical division; Le Quoc Dat, director of the Transportation Construction Investment Project Management Board, former head of the Department of Transport's investment management division; and Pham Ngoc Cuong, deputy general director of Phuc Son Group, for "breaching bidding regulations, causing serious consequences".

Also on Friday, Dang Trung Hoanh, chief of the Mang Thit district Party Committee Office in Vinh Long province, was arrested for abusing his influence and power for personal gain.

This new development is part of an expanded investigation into the case of "violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences" at Vinh Phuc-headquartered real estate firm Phuc Son Group JSC, Thang Long Real Estate and Trading Investment JSC and related units.

On the same day, related to the case, authorities arrested Hoang Thi Thuy Lan, chief of Vinh Phuc's Party Committee, and chairman of the provincial People's Committee Le Duy Thanh on charges of accepting bribes.

The investigative agency calls on those involved in the case to urgently hand themselves in to the police, denounce others' crimes, and remedy the consequences to receive leniency.

The investigative agency on February 26 initiated criminal proceedings against Nguyen Van Hau (43), chairman of Phuc Son Group JSC, and five accomplices.
