Quang Ngai town, capital of Quang Ngai province, is set to develop three urban areas: a historical urban area, low-density urban area, and coastal urban area.

The town and the province's coastal areas are suitable for agriculture, including fruit, vegetables, fish and rice. They will also feature urban localities and training centers which connect to industrial zones in the northern part of the province, Chu Lai airport and major seaports in the central region.

The coastal urban area will include localities in the north and south of Tra Khuc River which are set to form Quang Ngai town's sea-oriented tourism center.

Quang Ngai town is the economic hub of the province, home to Dung Quat Economic Zone. Its locomotive economic zone, including an urban cluster and service center, will stretch along the Dung Quat-Sa Huynh coastline, featuring the Quang Ngai, Binh Chau, Sa Ky, and My Khe coasts.

With an emerging urban population of 450,000 people, Quang Ngai town can boost the provincial night-time economy, tourism, and services along Tra Khuc River.

Quang Ngai's economic research team proposed the province build four economic corridors, namely the North-South corridor (Dung Quat-Quang Ngai town-Sa Huynh); the inner corridor Ba Vi (Ba To)-Son Ha-Son Tay-Tra Bon; the Ly Son-Dung Quat-Tra Bong-Tra My corridor along National Highway 24C connecting with Tra My and Nam Giang border gate (Quang Nam); and the Sa Huynh-Ba To-Bo Y-Ngoc Hoi corridor along Highway 24 (East-West corridor south of the province).

The North-South corridor is the Dung Quat Economic Zone-Quang Ngai town-Tu Nghia-Mo Duc-Duc Pho economic axis, connecting with the Dung Quat-Chu Lai region and Chu Lai airport. Its key tasks are to link service, urban and economic areas with coastal deltas to boost agricultural, commercial, urban and industrial growth.

It also serves as a tourism hub connecting with Binh Chau, Sa Ky, Tinh Ky, My Khe, My A, Sa Huynh, and Chau Me beaches. Besides, it can facilitate sectors of aquaculture, maritime traffic, and maritime tourism, while ensuring national defense.

To realize these targets, Quang Ngai province has been focusing on upgrading its road traffic infrastructure, including routes related to National Highway 24B, inter-district roads, and provincial roads.

“Quang Ngai strives to develop green urban areas. We will prioritize developing urban areas which are driving forces of growth, traffic systems, water supply systems, and waste treatment systems,” said Tran My Ai, director of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment.
