Gojek on Wednesday appointed Sumit Rathor its general director in Vietnam to replace Phung Tuan Duc, who quit the position to pursue his own career.

With over 20 years of experience in strategic planning, operations, and finance, Sumit Rathor joined Gojek in 2019 as its regional manager in Indonesia. "Vietnam is an important market for Gojek," he said as new general director.

Catherine Hindra Sutjahyo, head of operations and sales, Gojek Indonesia, said Rathor holds diverse experience and excellent management capability in regional and global markets.

He arrived in Vietnam in 2022 to run the operations of the three divisions of restaurant partner development, marketing, and strategy.

The ride-haling platform entered the Vietnamese market in 2018 with the name of GoViet, which became Gojek later. Its current Vietnam business includes more than 200,000 drivers (for both cars and motorcycles) and connectivity with restaurants and eateries.

Prior to Rathor, the three general directors in the country were Nguyen Vu Duc (a co-founder of Gojek in Vietnam), Le Diep Kieu Trang, and Phung Tuan Duc, the most recent one who was appointed in July 2020. All the three are Vietnamese.
