Securities, real estate stock rallies push VN-Index up 5 points

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index gained 4.63 points, or 0.38%, to close at 1,236.84 on Monday, thanks to the rallies of securities and property stocks.

Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index gained 4.63 points, or 0.38%, to close at 1,236.84 on Monday, thanks to the rallies of securities and property stocks.

The trading value on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), represented by the index, surged over 10% from the previous session last Friday to VND23.5 trillion ($986.5 million), with more than 1.1 billion shares changing hands. There were up to 315 tickers gaining and 150 losing.

The VN-30 index, which tracks the performance of 30 largest cap stocks, expanded 2.66 points to 1,243.43, with 17 gainers and 11 losers.

Tickers of securities companies sharply increased, with SSI of Saigon Securities up 3.55%, VND of VNDirect Securities 6.73%, VCI of Viet Capital Securities 3.8%, HCM of Ho Chi Minh City Securities 3.9%, and VIX of VIX Securities 4.94%.

In the real estate group, although large caps expanded slightly or decreased, small- and mid-cap stocks rallied. DIG of DIG Corp. rose 3.77%, PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development Corp 3.87%, VCG of Vietnam Construction And Import-Export Corp. 2.31%, ITA of Tan Tao Investment and Industry Corp. 2.33%, DXS of Dat Xanh Services by 2.2%, AGG of An Gia Group 2.01%, SCR of Sai Gon Thuong Tin Real Estate JSC 2.47%, and KHG of Khai Hoan Land 4.62%.

Notably, TCH of Hoang Huy Investment Financial Services JSC, CII of Ho Chi Minh City Infrastructure Investment JSC, CEO of CEO Group, and HPX of Hai Phat Invest hit their ceiling prices.

Other groups such as banking, manufacturing, energy, aviation and retail saw a divergence.

Foreign investors were net sellers on the HoSE to the tune of over VND958 billion ($40.2 million). They mainly net sold MSN of Masan Group and STB of Sacombank.

The HNX-Index at the Hanoi Stock Exchange soared 5.19 points to 250.44, while the UPCoM-Index at the Unlisted Public Companies Market rose 0.18 points to 93.46.
