Cooky – Mealkit Delivery, a Vietnamese mobile app providing grocery shopping and cooking instructions, has raised $4.5 million from Korean investment company Nextrans and local venture capital firm Do Ventures.

Cooky said Monday it would use the new proceeds in research and development (R&D) to provide a better range of food at better prices for users. It will also boost customer experiences by personalizing the services.

As the e-grocery market in Vietnam can reach $1.5 billion in 2025, the platform aims to primarily serve people with high demand for clean eating but with limited spare time for cooking, said Cooky CEO Dang Hoang Minh.

Cooky, which serves fresh food such as meat, fish, vegetables; and ready-to-cook packs, has over one million downloads after one year and a half.

It was founded in 2020 by Dang Hoang Minh and Nguyen Thanh Dai, co-founders of Vietnam’s pioneer food delivery app Foody. The duo established Cooky after Foody was bought by SEA Group, a Singapore-based leading global consumer internet company. SEA became the most valuable startup in Singapore last year at $137 billion.
