State utility EVN has new general director

Nguyen Anh Tuan has succeeded Tran Dinh Nhan, who will retire from December 1, as general director of state-run Vietnam Electricity (EVN), starting from Friday.

Under a Thursday decision signed by Dang Hoang An, chairman of EVN's board of members, following a Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises decision, chairman of EVN Hanoi Nguyen Anh Tuan was appointed EVN's general director for a five-year term.

Tuan, born in 1967, has a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, a bachelor's degree in politics, and a master's degree in business administration. 

He has worked for EVN Hanoi since 1990, from the position of an official in the planning and basic construction department to senior management positions like board member, general director and board chairman.

According to financial statements audited by Deloitte, EVN's consolidated net revenue in 2022 was more than VND463 trillion ($19.56 billion), up 8% year-on-year. Of this, revenue from electricity sales accounted for more than 98%.

At the end of 2022, EVN's total assets stood at over VND666 trillion ($28.1 billion), down more than 5% compared to the beginning of the year. Of this, more than VND100 trillion ($4.22 billion) was in bank deposits, down more than VND30 trillion ($1.27 billion) compared to the previous year.
