Sun Group to build mega ecotourism area in Mekong Delta

Major Vietnamese property developer Sun Group plans to invest in a 2,800-hectare ecotourism area in Lung Ngoc Hoang natural reserve, Hau Giang province.

Major Vietnamese property developer Sun Group plans to invest in a 2,800-hectare ecotourism area in Lung Ngoc Hoang natural reserve, Hau Giang province.

The VND345 billion ($14.58 million) project will seek to keep a balance between economic growth and natural preservation, a representative of Sun Group said at a recent meeting with local authorities.

According to Hau Giang province’s tourism development plan until 2020, with vision until 2025, Lung Ngoc Hoang natural reserve is set to become one of Vietnam's biggest tourism destinations in 2030.

Lung Ngoc Hoang, also known as the green lung of Mekong Delta and the biggest nature reserve, is home to 330 types of plants and 206 types of animals, including many in the red list of threatened species.

Sun Group is among the most popular developers of tourism and property in Vietnam. Notable projects include Ha Long international cruise port and Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh; Sun World Ba Na Hills resort complex in the central province of Quang Nam; JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay resort in Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang province, southern Vietnam.
