Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, a subsidiary of Sweden-headquartered engineered polymer solutions company Trelleborg Group, has started operating its first manufacturing facility in Vietnam, part of a strategy to increase its manufacturing footprint in Asia.

The new facility focuses on supplying the automotive and industrial sector in Vietnam, the wider Asian region, as well as Europe and North America, said Gordon Micallef, head of the Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business unit, without mentioning the value of the investment.

In Vietnam, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has a customer solution center in Ho Chi Minh City.

The facility in Dong Nai province has easy access to domestic and international markets. The area has well-developed infrastructure facilitating efficient transportation and also offers a skilled and abundant workforce which will be scaled up as demand increases, according to Trelleborg Sealing Solutions.

In mid-2023, Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure announced a plan to open a $37-million manufacturing facility in the Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park in Vietnam’s southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The construction was scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025, and production to commence in 2026.

Such a new plant in Vietnam will reinforce Trelleborg’s production capabilities in the marine fender, marine construction, and infrastructure product areas. It now has a facility in Qingdao, China, which serves the Chinese market and other regions worldwide.
