Telecom giant Viettel leads Vietnam’s top 10 tech firms

Placed second on the list is FPT Corporation, Hanoi-based Vietnam Report JSC announced Tuesday.

From third to 10th are state-run telecom group VNPT, Vinaphone, MobiFone, private corporation CMC, Hanel JSC, Vietnam Technology & Telecommunication JSC, Vietnam Maritime Communication and Electronics Co., and Hanoi Telecom.

Vietnam Report also announced a list of top 10 providers of tech services, software solutions, and system integration. In order, the companies are FPT Soft, Misa JSC, FPT Information System Corp., CMC Technology and Solutions Co., VNPT Technology, Joint Stock Company for Telecoms and Informatics, Elcom, Tuong Minh Software Solutions, FSI Technology Development and Trading, HPT Vietnam Corp.

The rating company said its ranking was "objective, independent" and based on the results of assessing the financial capacity of companies, their reputation in the media and a survey of opinions from related parties conducted this June.

Survey findings show that the top five priorities in Vietnam’s digital transformation are training high-quality human resources (88.3%), improving competitiveness (88.3%), enhancing R&D (77.8%), improving corporate reputation and image in the media (55.6%), and improving customer service quality (61.1%).

Total revenue of Vietnam's IT and telecom industry reached $136.15 billion last year, up 9% from 2020. The country was home to 64,000 digital technology firms last year, increasing by 9.5% year-on-year, according to Vietnam Report. IT and telecom revenue in the first five months of 2022 is estimated at $57 billion, an 8.5% expansion.
