Toyota Vios Vietnam bestseller in first 10 months

Toyota Vios was the best selling vehicle in Vietnam in the first 10 months of the year with 18,780 units, according to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA).

The data does not include VinFast and Hyundai which are not VAMA members.

Vios is a popular B-class sedan, known for its affordability with list prices of between VND483 million ($19,500) and VND630 million.

Multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) Mitsubishi Xpander was the second best-selling model with 17,757 units, including 17,217 completely-built-up (CBU) and 540 completely knocked down (CKD) units.

The third and fourth best sellers were sport utility vehicle (SUV) Toyota Corolla Cross with 16,576 units and Honda CITY, a sedan, with 12,930, respectively.

Other notable names in the top sales list were Ford Ranger, a pick-up truck, with 12,028 units - 910 CBU and 11,118 CKD; Toyota Veloz, an MPV, with 11,255; Thaco Kia Seltos, a crossover car, with 10,983; Thaco Mazda CX-5, a crossover vehicle, with 10,973; and Thaco Kia K3, a sedan, with 9,921 units.

Brand-wise, Toyota was the bestseller in the first 10 months with 72,813 units, or 24.6% of the total. Other top selling brands were Mitsubishi, KIA and Mazda, assembled by domestic automaker Thaco, with corresponding figures of 33,364 (11.2%), 52,694 (17.8%) and 30,060 (10.1%,). Honda followed up with 26,887 units, or 9.1% of the total.

Total sales of VAMA members increased 52% year-on-year to 332,963 in the first 10 months of the year.
