Video leak shows Vietnamese on Google Pixel 7a model

The American giant had earlier had plans to have its future Pixel phones produced in partner plants across Vietnam to avoid U.S.-China trade tension risks and China's Covid-19 lockdowns. It is believed that the Pixel 7 series will be made in Vietnam, which is emerging as Apple’s next production hub.

The new leak of the Pixel 7a with Vietnamese being the default language is a 49-second that first appeared on www.slashleaks.com. The person who took the video shows various pages in the device’s Settings app and briefly shows some of the display options in Vietnamese, and a Google account of a Vietnamese proper name.

Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 7a at its next I/O conference, which could come sometime this May. Google I/O, or simply I/O, is an annual developer conference held by Google in California in the U.S. I/O stands for Input/Output, as well as the slogan "Innovation in the Open".

Vietnam has become a production base for global electronics makers like Intel, Samsung, LG, Foxconn, Goertek, Luxshare, Winston, Pegatron, BYD, and Compal. Notably. Chinese company BYD has started assembling Apple tablets in the country, while Compal is building a new factory.

Taiwan’s Quanta Computer, a world-leading contract laptop maker, is likely to set up a manufacturing plant in northern Vietnam where Foxconn is set to make MacBooks in the second half of 2023.

Apple plans to start producing MacBook models in the Southeast Asian country this May. The giant has tapped its supplier Foxconn to make MacBooks in Vietnam. The move means Apple products made in Vietnam include MacBooks, iPads, AirPods, and Apple Watches.
