Under the deal, bp and VinFast will seek to form a long-term strategic cooperation to promote electrified mobility solutions globally. The two companies will also explore working together to advocate for commercial and private access to renewable energy sources to power EV charging networks.

VinES, another subsidiary of Vingroup, and bp will explore developing and co-engineering battery thermal management solutions and EV charging services.

“Castrol has a long-standing relationship with VinFast via the supply of lubricants over the last six years. We are proud of this opportunity to expand our collaboration on integrated energy and mobility solutions for VinFast,” Toan Nguyen Phuoc, country head, bp Vietnam, said in Hanoi Thursday.

Castrol is a lubricant brand under the British giant’s roof.

VinFast, Vingroup’s car unit, announced last October that Germany’s automotive semiconductor solution provider Infineon Technologies and VinFast had expanded their electromobility partnership. The two sides would set up a joint application competence center focusing on electromobility to accelerate VinFast’s development of solutions for the future of smart mobility.

In the same month, China-based Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL) and VinFast entered their global strategic cooperation, with a focus on skateboard chassis products.
