Shell Recharge Solutions has become VinFast’s partner in supplying advanced at-home charging equipment and services to the Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker's customers in Germany, France, and the Netherlands.

The collaboration supports both VinFast’s entrance as an EV manufacturer in Europe and Shell Recharge Solutions’ efforts to enable cleaner transportation, the global EV charging solutions provider announced Thursday from the Netherlands’ Amsterdam.

Melanie Lane, CEO of Shell Recharge Solutions Europe, said: “We know from our published consumer research, the EV Driver Survey, that ease of use is the most important aspect when selecting a charge point. By integrating the purchase of the charge point via VinFast’s app, we aim that the EV driver journey becomes even more seamless.”

Ho Thanh Huong, CEO of VinFast in Europe, said: “Shell Recharge Solutions’ reputation for the development of charging technology would help reassure first-time EV customers and make their purchasing journey as straightforward as possible.”

VinFast customers will be able to order charging equipment and installation from Shell Recharge Solutions using the VinFast app.

Shell Recharge Solutions added that its charge points included functionalities like scheduled charging and remote charging management, which will become more important as more widespread EV adoption influences power demand and grid operation.

Currently, VinFast’s VF8 and VF9 electric cars are being provided to European customers on a reservation basis.

VinFast announced this October its plan to open more than 50 stores across France, Germany, and the Netherlands, beginning by the end of 2022. The EVs will be available with Shell Recharge charge points when they go on sale in the market.

VinFast is a subsidiary of Vietnam's biggest private conglomerate Vingroup, listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange as VIC.
