Within the next decade, Gentic AI could automate up to 70% of office tasks, reshaping industries with intelligent, adaptive systems that learn, evolve, and solve complex real-world challenges.
According to the McKinsey Global Institute, by 2030, artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to automate 30% of work hours in the U.S., with agentic AI predicted to handle the majority of office tasks within the next 10 years.
AI is advancing rapidly, and at the forefront of this evolution is agentic AI. Unlike traditional applications, like rule-based chatbots or predictive analytics tools, agentic AI evolves from experiences, learns from interactions, and responds to new situations with creativity and efficiency.

Nvidia defines agentic AI as the next frontier of AI. Meanwhile, IBM highlights its role in powering dynamic systems that can interact with complex, real-world scenarios, such as robotics and intelligent assistants.
This shift marks a new era in AI applications, bringing profound implications for businesses.
Transformative applications across industries
Agentic AI is poised to revolutionize industries. In healthcare, it can personalize treatment plans and assist in real-time decisions. For example, agentic AI can monitor patient health metrics in real-time, identifying potential complications before they become critical and recommending preventive measures.
Manufacturing will benefit from AI-driven optimization of production lines and predictive maintenance. Some tech companies like Siemens use AI to predict equipment failures, reducing downtime and extending machinery lifespan. Retail and e-commerce will witness innovations in inventory management and personalized shopping experiences.
For example, when you ask, "What are some good restaurants in this city?" An agentic AI will analyze your request, consider your past travel preferences, check restaurant availability, and even weather conditions to suggest the restaurants. It might even book a table for you. Many agentic AI applications are still in experimental or pilot stages, but use cases are beginning to emerge across various industries.
Equipping talent for the agentic AI era
The rise of agentic AI necessitates a broader skillset for niformation technology and software engineering students than just coding. Beyond technical expertise, they must deeply understand the principles of agentic AI, including how these systems operate, learn, and adapt, while considering the ethical and societal implications. Interdisciplinary collaboration is key.
A solid grasp of specific domains allows for the application of AI knowledge to solve real-world problems. Lifelong learning is crucial, encompassing continuous skill development and staying abreast of the latest advancements in AI technology.
STEM education should focus on students with a blend of technical and soft skills to thrive in this era. Curricula should emphasize advanced AI topics alongside fostering critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Partnerships with industry are essential to provide access to cutting-edge technologies and mentorship programs. Institutions should also promote interdisciplinary learning by integrating AI ethics and business strategies into their courses.
Challenges and actions in an agentic AI-driven world
Despite its numerous advantages, the integration of agentic AI in business also raises ethical and practical considerations. Ensuring data privacy and security is paramount, as AI systems handle sensitive information. Businesses must address potential job displacement caused by automation and invest in reskilling programs to prepare employees for new roles in AI-driven environments.
The emergence of agentic AI will significantly impact industries and countries globally. Preparing for this wave involves understanding its potential, mitigating risks, and fostering adoption in beneficial ways. For a developing country like Vietnam, it requires strategic focus on building infrastructure, fostering innovation, and addressing societal challenges.
Fostering a skilled AI workforce, investing in AI research, attracting international talent, and providing upskilling programs for the existing workforce are essential for the AI era. Governments should promote innovation by supporting startups, creating AI research hubs, and encouraging public-private partnerships. Ethical AI policies, data protection frameworks, and cybersecurity measures are essential to ensure responsible AI use.
As agentic AI reshapes industries worldwide, Vietnam’s businesses should proactively embrace this technology by investing in AI-driven innovation, upskilling the workforce, and fostering strategic collaborations. These efforts will not only enhance competitiveness but also ensure sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the digital era.
