The ministry on Tuesday stated that the investigative agency has initiated legal proceedings against the case of "appropriating state secret documents” that occurred in Hanoi and other localities.
The agency also launched legal proceedings against and detained Yen, 58, for further investigation into his alleged “appropriation of state secret documents”, per the Penal Code.
Previously, the Central Inspection Commission had asked competent authorities to consider disciplining Yen.
In its announcement on June 15, the commission said that Yen had showed degradation in his political ideology, morality, and lifestyle; and violated Party regulations and State laws in carrying out assigned responsibilities and tasks.
Yen also violated regulations on Party members' code of conduct and responsibility to set a good example, causing serious consequences and public angers and undermining the reputation of local Party organizations and governments "to the point that he must be disciplined".
Yen, from Hanoi’s Me Linh district, worked in the public security sector for a long time. In late 2006, he became secretary of the deputy chief of the Office of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-corruption.
Four years later, he was appointed deputy director of the Department for Southern Affairs under the Office of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption. From January 2022, Yen was deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs.
The Commission for Internal Affairs is an advisory agency of the Party Central Committee on major guidelines and policies in the field of internal affairs, corruption fight, and judicial reform.
