Hanoi streets festooned with flags, flowers for National Day

Hanoi’s streets are festooned with national flags and flowers, revisiting a historic ambience as the capital city and the nation celebrate the National Day (September 2).

Celebrating the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (1945-2023), the streets of Hanoi are sparkling with red flags, banners and posters.

The headquarters of the Hanoi People's Committee is adorned with large colorful posters symbolizing the day that President Ho Chi Minh issued his declaration of independence.

The banks of Hoan Kiem Lake (Sword Lake) and surrounding streets also teem with national flags, flowers and banners with slogans hailing Vietnam’s National Day.

August 19, 1945 marks the success of the Vietnamese revolution that brought the country out of nearly 100 years of oppression and exploitation by the French colonialists, completely eliminated feudalism, and gave birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
