American music star Charlie Puth makes Vietnam debut with Nha Trang concert

Popular American singer-songwriter Charlie Puth arrived in the beach town of Nha Trang Friday for a Saturday night performance that organizers said would be an “unlimited emotional wonder”.

Sharing the stage with Puth, a highly sought-after music star, will be top Vietnamese artists including Ho Ngoc Ha, Ha Anh Tuan and Amee.

The concert will be part of the 8Wonder music festival at Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang on Tre Island. Tre is said to be the most spectacular island in Nha Trang Bay.

The festival, an "unlimited emotional wonder - Infinity Wonder" will be the first such event in Vietnam, said festival organizer VinWonders, which is the resort and entertainment arm of Vietnam’s largest private conglomerate Vingroup.

After landing at the Cam Ranh Airport in Khanh Hoa province, the A-list singer was escorted to Vinpearl Resort Nha Trang under tight security. Soon after he landed, Puth tweeted and informed fans that he had arrived.

The singer’s show at Vinpearl Nha Trang will start at 4 p.m., and feature more than six hours of “endless excitement and sublimation with top-level music, eye-catching performances, superb cuisine, colorful carnivals, entertainment and interactive activities,” according to VinWonders.

Vinpearl Nha Trang on Tre Island is in the middle of Nha Trang Bay, which was recognized by UNESCO in June 2003 as one of the 29 most beautiful bays in the world.

After his Vietnam concert, Puth will perform at Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong this October

Puth, 32, is a multi-platinum singer, songwriter and producer of U.S. contemporary pop music. His initial breakthrough came through the viral success of videos uploaded to YouTube before signing with the record label eleveneleven in 2011 following a performance at The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

In 2015, he rose to global fame through the smash hit “See You Again” which was featured in Hollywood blockbuster “Fast & Furious 7” and peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for 12 non-consecutive weeks. T

Puth has recorded eight multi-platinum singles and won four Grammy nominations, three Billboard Music Awards, a Critic’s Choice Award and a Golden Globe nomination.
