He has five years of experience at Grab, used to be the regional director in charge of strategy development and planning, and most recently, managing director of Grab Thailand.

In a press statement, Russell Cohen, Grab's group managing director for operations, said Osorio has “a strong track record in driving Grab Thailand to emerge even stronger post-Covid-19 pandemic” and experience in developing “high-performing” local teams.

Under the new leadership, Grab Vietnam aims to consolidate its leading position in the market. The company plans to strengthen technology and service capabilities to improve operations for partners, users as well as cooperation relationships.

Osorio's predecessor Nguyen Thai Hai Van, who resigned from her post as Grab Vietnam managing director in April, has taken the role of Apple country director in the Vietnamese market.

On the firm's website, this position and legal representation was then assigned to Ly Thuy Bich Huyen, who was one of the early leaders of Grab when the company entered the Vietnamese market in 2014 under the name GrabTaxi.

Grab Vietnam saw a loss of VND300.5 billion ($12.82 million) last year after recording a $10.36 million profit in 2020.

The subsidiary of super app major Grab reported an accumulated loss of $186 million by the end of last year.

It achieved a net revenue of $142.7 million in 2021, down 11% year-on-year.
