Intel, Vietnam telco Viettel partner up in AI, 5G, data center, smart devices

Vietnamese telecom giant Viettel and U.S. technological firm Intel have signed a memorandum of understanding to accelerate research & development (R&D) and advanced technologies at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024.

Vietnamese telecom giant Viettel and U.S. technological firm Intel have signed a memorandum of understanding to accelerate research & development (R&D) and advanced technologies at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024.

The two sides will cooperate in developing concepts, experiments, and commercial deployments of products related to artificial intelligence (AI), 5G technology, smart devices, data centers, and computing platforms.

Per the agreement signed at the event in Barcelona, Spain, Intel will provide Viettel with technological suggestions and early access to Intel’s latest software and hardware to help optimize the production.

At the MWC 2023, Viettel and Intel also signed a memorandum of understanding on network transformation strategies and joint innovations, focusing on digital services, 5G, and cloud services. In particular, the two sides will cooperate in the visual cloud, 5G network transformation, data centers, efficient and sustainable computing structure, idea incubation, experiments, and commercial implementation.

At the MWC 2024 from February 26-29, Viettel officially announced its 5G chipset and human artificial intelligence (AI) named Vi An. This was the seventh time Viettel has participated in the MWC as the only technology representative from Vietnam. Viettel also presented 17 products in network infrastructure, cloud computing infrastructure, digital platforms and future technologies.
