Viettel, Intel to cooperate in digital services, 5G, cloud
Military-run telecom group Viettel and global tech giant Intel have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on network transformation strategies and joint innovations for 2023-2024, focusing on digital services, 5G, and cloud services.
In particular, the two sides will cooperate in visual cloud, 5G network transformation, data centers, efficient and sustainable computing structure, idea incubation, experiment, and commercial implementation, according to the MoU signed in Barcelona, Spain, on Monday at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2023.
Viettel affirmed those are key technologies that would facilitate strong growth of a digital society and economy in the near future.

MWC 2023 marks Viettel’s sixth participation at the world’s largest and most influential connectivity event. Vietnam’s biggest telecommunications business showcased six products and solutions with the theme “Technology with Heart” at the event.

Military-run telecom group Viettel has been valued at $8.9 billion, up $144 million year-on-year, and remains the only Vietnamese brand in the 2023 edition of the Global 500 report by valuation consultants Brand Finance.
Viettel reported a pre-tax profit of VND43.1 trillion ($1.83 billion) in 2022, up 3% year-on-year and a five-year high. Its consolidated revenue reached VND163.8 trillion ($6.96 billion), up 6.1%. The group paid VND38 trillion ($1.62 billion) to the state budget, equivalent to its contribution in 2019 before the pandemic, according to its annual report.
American giant chipmaker Intel has plans to enlarge business and investment in Vietnam, Intel CEO Patrick Gelsinger told Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in their meeting in Hanoi in May 2022. Intel's expansion in Vietnam in the coming period would feature environmentally friendly, high technology and close cooperation with local enterprises, he added.
