Lam Dong approves 2 wind power projects worth $186 mln

The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong has approved two wind power projects with a total capacity of 40 megawatts and investment of VND4,398 billion ($185.5 million).

The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong has approved two wind power projects with a total capacity of 40 megawatts and investment of VND4,398 billion ($185.5 million).

The two plants, named Xuan Truong 1 and Xuan Truong 2, are located in Xuan Truong township, Da Lat town, a popular tourist attraction in Vietnam.

Xuan Truong 1, worth VND2,212 billion ($93.29 million), is invested by Xuan Truong Energy Development JSC and has a capacity of 50 MW. The 32.5-hectare plant’s average output is 180 GWh per year.

Xuan Truong 2 has an investment of VND2,186 billion ($92.2 million) and is invested in by Cao Nguyen Wind Power Development Investment JSC. Its capacity is 48 MW and average output, 170 GWh a year.

The duration for the two projects are 50 years from September 19. They are set to run trials and then become operational in the first and second quarters of 2025.

In May, Lam Dong province has proposed a planning of 71 renewable energy projects in 2021-2030, with a total capacity of 2,300 MW.

Two wind power projects with a total capacity of 298 MW and six solar ones with a total capacity of 428 MW were submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Trade but have not been approved yet.

Other 14 wind power projects with a total capacity of 984 MW and six solar power ones with a total capacity of 274 MW are being studied by investors.
