Taiwanese electronics firm Foxlink gets license for $135 mln Danang factory

Taiwan’s Foxlink International Investment Ltd. received official approval Saturday for building a $135 million electronics factory in Danang city, central Vietnam.

Taiwan’s Foxlink International Investment Ltd. received official approval Saturday for building a $135 million electronics factory in Danang city, central Vietnam.

The 11.35 hectare factory at the Danang Hi-tech Park, will churn out a range of electronics products including touch pens, wireless earphones, battery packs, energy storage devices and charging stations.

The Saturday ceremony also saw domestic firms get investment licenses or in-principle approval for six projects worth a combined VND6.13 trillion ($252 million).

Among them, Hanoi-based AMACCAO Group will raise its investment in a waste treatment compound by VND1.5 trillion ($61.7 million) to VND2.02 trillion ($83.2 million).

Create Capital Vietnam JSC received in-principle approval for a VND1.17 trillion ($48.3 million) solar panel factory at the Danang Hi-tech Park.

Four real estate developers received the go-ahead for residential housing projects in the city.

Also at the ceremony, Danang University and Portland State University of the U.S. exchanged letters of intent on training a semiconductor workforce towards attracting future semiconductor and chip projects.

Danang attracted FDI worth $180.65 million in the first 10 months of this year, up 38% year-on-year, according to government data.
