Toyota leads Vietnam car sales in May

Toyota Vietnam had 10,579 units sold last month, according to Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers' Association (VAMA). This includes 3,887 Toyota Vios sedans, 1,717 Corolla Cross cars, and 1,833 Avanza and Veloz units.

Kia came second with 8,079 cars sold, an 20.5% increase on April, according to VAMA. The sales volumes of Kia K3, Carnival, and Sonet were 1,684, 1,285, and 1,453, respectively.

Hyundai, another Korean brand, ranked third in May with 6,490 vehicles sold, down 6.8% on April, according to Hyundai Thanh Cong Vietnam, which is not a VAMA member. The carmaker reported its January-May auto sales volume at 32,119 vehicles, up 12.8% against the same period in 2021.

In May, Mazda came fourth with 4,396 vehicles sold. Mitsubishi delivered 3,279 units to rank fifth, followed by Honda and Ford with 3,184 vehicles and 2,410, respectively.

The three brands from eighth to 10th were Suzuki (1,796 units), Peugeot (1,627 vehicles), and Isuzu (987 cars).

VAMA data shows that sales of vehicles in Vietnam in May reached 43,816, rising 3.4% month-on-month and 71% year-on-year. Of this, 35,210 are pessenger cars, 7,929 are commercial vehicles, and 677 are special-purpose vehicles.
