Vehicle sales in Vietnam drop 25% to 40,354 in first 2 months

They included 31,016 passenger cars, down 27.57% year-on-year; 8,934 commercial vehicles, down 10.28%; and 404 special-purpose vehicles, down 47.19%.

The number of completely knocked down vehicles hit 20,518, down 38% year-on-year; and that of completely-built-up units fell 3% to 19,836.

In February, VAMA’s vehicle sales inched up 1% year-on-year or 33% from January to 23,040. They comprised 16,980 passenger cars, 5,760 commercial vehicles, and 300 special-purpose vehicles.

Regarding non-VAMA members, VinFast delivered 774 electric vehicles to customers, featuring the 470 VF 8 and 304 VF e34, in the first two months of this year, the company announced last Tuesday. It is preparing to deliver the VF 9 and VF 5 Plus, two SUV models, to customers in Vietnam soon.

Hyundai reported sales of 8,963 units, including 3,496 in January and 5,467 in February, according to a report by TC Group, manufacturer and seller of Hyundai vehicles in Vietnam.

As a result, Hyundai was the best-selling brand in the first two months of this year. Other top sellers in the country were Toyota with 7,910; Ford with 4,992; KIA with 4,800; Mazda with 4,165; and Honda with 2,879.

Vietnamese conglomerate Thaco, known for manufacturing and selling vehicles of international brands like KIA, Mazda, Peugeot, BMW, and its own brand Thaco for trucks and buses, recorded a total figure of 11,904.
