Vietnam gas firm builds LNG station near HCMC

CNG Vietnam, a compressed natural gas company, started work Sunday on its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply station, located in Long An province bordering Ho Chi Minh City.

CNG Vietnam, a compressed natural gas company, started work Sunday on its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply station, located in Long An province bordering Ho Chi Minh City.

The LNG station in Thuan Dao Industrial Park is designed with a storage capacity of 50 tons in the first stage. The private company, based in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, expects the construction to be finished next April.

According to the firm, its existing compressed natural gas clients in the IP like Oechsler Motion Vietnam of German plastics technology company Oechsler, Nam Hung Steel, Asia Steel, and Petfood Evolution, will shift to using LNG supplied by the station, and other clients will follow suite later.

Nguyen Huu Xuan, deputy director of CNG Vietnam, said this LNG station was of a small scale but his firm’s first step into the LNG supply sector, which is part of Vietnam’s clean energy transition.
