Vietnam IT major CMC reports $18.5 mln pre-tax profit for 2021

CMC Corporation, one of Vietnam's leading IT firms, reported a pre-tax profit of VND432 billion ($18.5 million) in financial year 2021 that ended in March, up 29% year-on-year, with headcount rising by 58% compared to 2020.

The corp's consolidated revenue reached VND6,909 billion ($295.7 million), a 22% rise, according to its newly-released financial statement.

CMC's annual general meeting on Wednesday approved a plan to pay dividends in 2021 by shares at the ratio of 13% and issue bonus shares at the ratio of 24.62% from capital surplus, raising the company's charter capital to more than VND1,500 billion ($64.19 million).

"CMC's growth rate is not only reflected in financial numbers, but also in the number of employees increasing by more than 58% compared to 2020, reaching the milestone of 5,000 employees by the time of this shareholder meeting. We aim to reach 10,000 in 2025," CMC general director Ho Thanh Tung said.

In 2021, CMC officially put into operation the CMC Data Center Tan Thuan, located in the CMC Creative Space (CCS) complex in Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. The complex's opening ceremony is expected to occur in August this year.

It has also expanded its investment into education, building the first digital university in Vietnam, the Asia University of Industrial Fine Arts, specializing in training "the next generation of digital citizens for the community".

At the meeting, CMC chairman Nguyen Trung Chinh said that on July 26, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam officially signed a decision to allow the Asia University of Industrial Fine Arts to change its name to CMC University.

CMC Global, CMC Japan, and CMC APAC have cooperated with more than 300 customers and partners globally, with 2,500 employees working in 10 countries.

On the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, the CMG shares price hit VND59,000 ($2.52) a piece at the closing morning session on July 28.
