Vietnamese automaker VinFast announced the battery subscription prices for its electric cars VF 8 and VF 9 in the US market on Wednesday, US time.

Also at the New York International Auto Show 2022 at the same time, the company activated the VinFirst NFT exchange on OpenSea, a New York City-headquartered online non-fungible token marketplace.

Launched at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2021 last November, the VF 8 and VF 9 are expected to be available in the US market in the second half of this year.

Currently, the VF 8 has two battery versions, Eco and Plus. The car price for the Eco VF 8 starts at $40,700 and $41,000, respectively. The VF 8 Plus price begins at $47,700 and $48,000, respectively.

The VF 9 also has two battery versions now. The Eco VF 9 price starts at $55,500 and $56,000, while those for the Plus VF 9 are $60,500 and $61,000. Battery version 1 will be available in the US market this year, and version 2 next year.

VinFast said it will offer customers in the US market two battery subscription packages.

The Flexible Plan is designed for those who travel infrequently, with a monthly fee of $35 for VF 8 and $44 for VF 9. This is a monthly fee for 310 miles. From the 311st mile, the subscription fee per mile is about $0.11 for VF 8 and $0.15 for VF 9.

In the Fixed package, which allows unlimited range, the monthly rates are $110 for the VF 8 and $160.00 for the VF 9. Customers who make a reservation and deposit for the two cars this year with the Fixed plan will be offered the same lifetime subscription fee.

VinFast plans to support customers with a 100% battery subscription policy until the end of 2023. After that, it will adjust the proportion so that 50% of the battery is for rent and 50% is for sale when selling cars.

Within the New York International Auto Show 2022, the firm launched its VinFirst NFT exchange on OpenSea. From this April, customers who made a deposit can get their VinFirst NFT exchange on the marketplace.
