Resort 'blocking' Nha Trang town beach dismantled

The five-star Evason Ana Mandara Resort in Nha Trang, a top beach town in Vietnam, is being relocated after many years of operation, returning the beach to local authorities for public use.

The resort on the east side of Tran Phu street, the busiest tourist route in Nha Trang, was built in 1995, stretching 400 meters of coastline.

In 2021, Khanh Hoa province decided to lease land to Sovico Khanh Hoa Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Vietnamese group Sovico Holdings, to build the resort in Bai Dai area, Cam Ranh town.

In June 2022, the provincial People's Committee decided to recover 28,000 square meters of land and 10,000 square meters of sea surface to serve the community.

After many delays, the investor has stopped welcoming guests and moved the property to the Cam Ranh Peninsula Tourist Area, Cam Lam district under the new name Evason Ana Mandara Resort & Spa, which covers 29 hectares.

The investor said that they are speeding up the demolition of two blocks of houses located near Tran Phu street to hand over to the local administration per commitments.

Some of the villas in the resort have had their roofs removed.

Machinery and vehicles are mobilized to carry out the dismantling of works at the resort.

The resort's assets were collected, then transferred to the investor for other purposes.

Workers are trying to speed up the relocation.

The province has put into effect a plan to spruce up the beach along Tran Phu street as several resorts block local residents' access to the beach. Some had been taken apart.

In addition to Evason Ana Mandara resort, Khanh Hoa People's Committee has recovered nearly 2.2 hectares of land for the Phu Dong Park project to serve the community.

Khanh Hoa is well-known for its long sandy beaches and spectacular scenery. It contains various well-known bays like Cam Ranh, Van Phong and Nha Trang.
