The Asian Development Bank (ADB) last Friday said it had signed with GSA Data Centre 01 Company Limited (GSA) a loan of THB900 million (about $27.8 million) to fund the development, construction, and operation of a 25.6-megawatt colocation green data center in Thailand.

ADB country director for Thailand Anouj Mehta said that this is ADB's first lending in the data center sector in Thailand, and in the region as well.

He said as the demand for digital services grows, it is crucial to prioritize energy efficiency and renewable energy sources in this sector to significantly reduce carbon footprint, support environmental goals, and pave the way for a greener, more resilient digital infrastructure.

Founded in 2022, GSA is a joint venture of Gulf Development, one of Thailand's largest independent power producers. GSA is scheduled to begin commercial operations by 2025.
