Malaysia’s JLand eyes up to $6 bln high-tech hub in Hanoi
Malaysia’s JLand Group has proposed developing a high-tech, innovation and data center complex in Hanoi with an estimated investment of $4-6 billion, as Vietnam’s capital seeks to attract technology projects and strengthen its digital infrastructure.
The proposal was presented during a meeting on Sunday between Hanoi authorities and a consortium comprising Hung Yen Group - a subsidiary of Vietnam’s real estate developer Kinh Bac City (HoSE: KBC) and JLand Group - a member of Malaysia’s Johor Corporation.
The consortium said the project will focus on building an ecosystem for science and technology, digital transformation, and modern data infrastructure. Priority sectors will include AI data centers, semiconductor manufacturing, cloud computing, automation and robotics.

Hanoi Vice Chairman Truong Viet Dung said the western part of Hanoi is well suited for such a development, given its proximity to Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, which the city is restructuring into a technology-focused urban center after assuming management of the zone.
Several of Vietnam’s leading universities are also scheduled to relocate to Hoa Lac, while Metro Line 5 is being developed to connect downtown Hanoi with Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park and the Vietnam National University, he noted.
In addition, the city is also planning a 600-hectare smart urban area opposite the hi-tech park to accommodate experts, scientists, and technology workers.
Dung said Hanoi considers high-tech projects, data centers, and innovation hubs as priority investments and will apply a “green lane” mechanism to expedite administrative procedures for investors.
Under Hanoi’s recently approved master plan with a 100-year vision, the western corridor anchored by Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park and Vietnam National University is designated as a new growth pole for science and technology, high-tech industries, the knowledge economy, and digital infrastructure.
In related news, Hung Yen Group and JLand Group signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday to jointly study and promote opportunities to develop high-tech industrial parks in Vietnam.
The partnership will draw on Jland’s experience as the master developer of Ibrahim Technopolis (IBTEC) in Johor, Malaysia, particularly Sedenak Tech Park (STeP), which has emerged as a major regional hub for data centers and digital infrastructure.
