The recent visits by Danish Ambassador Nicolai Prytz and Carlsberg Vietnam leadership to the Hue city People's Committee reaffirm their commitment to long-term partnership and sustainable development.

The Ambassador's visit also reflects the strong diplomatic and economic ties between Denmark and Vietnam. Accompanying the Ambassador was Andrew Khan, managing director of Carlsberg Vietnam.

The meeting also highlighted Carlsberg Vietnam’s long-term commitment to sustainable development in central Vietnam. It marked a pivotal moment for strengthened collaboration between Danish businesses and local authorities in driving inclusive, future-forward growth.

A Danish multinational with long-term roots in Vietnam

Carlsberg was among the first Danish multinationals to invest in Vietnam in the early 1990s. Over the past three decades, Carlsberg Vietnam has grown into one of the country’s leading brewers, with Hue at the heart of its operations and the flagship Huda brand standing as a proud symbol of central region heritage.

A cornerstone of that legacy is the Phu Bai Brewery located in Hue, which has recently undergone a major expansion and is set to be officially inaugurated in late August 2025. Once operational, the facility will become Carlsberg’s largest brewery in Asia and one of the most productive across the group globally.

“Vietnam is a strategic market for Carlsberg in Asia and globally. Our roots in Hue are deep, and our ambitions are long-term,” said Andrew Khan, managing director of Carlsberg Vietnam. “We’re proud of the strong partnership we’ve built with local authorities and look forward to contributing even more to the region’s sustainable growth.”

Investing beyond business

Carlsberg Vietnam’s impact extends well beyond its brewing operations. In 2025 alone, the company has committed to cultural, sporting, and social initiatives across Hue – reinforcing its long-term vision of creating shared value for both business and community.

This includes platinum sponsorship of Hue Festival 2025, the fourth consecutive year supporting the VNExpress Marathon Hue, and a series of grassroots efforts such as Tet (Lunar New Year holiday) charity programs and youth sports tournaments.

Earlier this summer, the Huda Ice Twist event, part of the Hue Festival, drew over 20,000 attendees and 6.5 million livestream viewers, celebrating both Huda’s 35-year journey and its enduring bond with the people in central Vietnam.

At the same time, the company’s long-running “Fresh Water for Beloved Central” initiative continues to make lasting impact, bringing clean water access to nearly 40,000 people across central provinces since 2019.

“Whether it’s brewing high-quality beers or investing in clean water, everything we do is guided by one purpose: to grow responsibly, and to give back to the communities we serve,” Andrew Khan added.

A shared vision for sustainable development

The visit also reflected Denmark’s broader commitment to advancing responsible business and sustainability in Vietnam.

The Ambassador also affirmed Denmark’s ongoing support for companies like Carlsberg that are helping shape Vietnam’s green transition, through innovation, collaboration, and a deep understanding of local priorities.

As Hue prepares for its new status as a centrally governed city and Vietnam accelerates its national sustainability agenda, Carlsberg Vietnam is well-positioned to play a strategic role in both journeys.

From its smart, green brewing operations at Phu Bai to its wide-reaching community initiatives, the company continues to lead by example, proving that growth and responsibility can go together.

“Carlsberg Vietnam is here for the long run – brewing not only beers, but a future of sustainable growth, deep community ties, and shared progress,” Andrew emphasized.
