National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) and Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) on Monday energized a project to install two 220kV transformer stations in Long Xuyen ward, the southern province of An Giang.

Previously, last Friday, the investor-level acceptance council including chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tan - deputy general director of EVNNPT - and other council members had agreed to energize the project.

The project of installing two 220kV transformer stations in Long Xuyen ward is invested by EVNNPT. NPTPMB manages and operates the project on behalf of the investor, and Power Transmission Company 4 takes over the operation.

The project features installing an additional 220/110/22kV transformer with a capacity of 250 MVA, raising the total capacity of the station to 500 MVA. The 220kV bays include one 220kV transformer bay (AT1) and two 220kV transmission line bays (to Thot Not, Chau Doc).

The 110kV bays include installing a bypass busbar, one 110kV total busbar bay for the 220/110kV-250MVA transformer, one 110kV line bay to the 110kV Thoi Thuan station, one 110kV line bay to the 110kV Vinh Thanh station, one 110kV line bay to the 110kV Thoai Son station (circuit 1), and one 110kV bypass bay.

The second transformer with a capacity of 250 MVA at the 220kV Long Xuyen transformer station has been successfully energized.

Le Tuan Anh, deputy director of NPTPMB said: "During the implementation process, the project always received EVNNPT leaders' attention and the coordination of dispatching staff and Power Transmission Company 4, along with the efforts of NPTPMB staff and contractors. Therefore, the project was completed on schedule."

After the successful energization, the project will help reduce the load and prevent the existing 220kV Long Xuyen transformer from overloading. It will also increase the 220kV power supply for the 110kV substations that will be put into operation in the period up to 2030, contributing to improving the voltage quality.

The project will meet the load demand of An Giang province and neighboring areas and increase the power supply to the 110kV substations in the area, thereby improving the reliability of power supply and contributing to the provincial socio-economic development.

Fire prevention and fighting police force under An Giang Police coordinated with relevant units during the project energization.

Le Tuan Anh, deputy director of NPTPMB said: "Currently, NPTPMB is continuing to deploy many items to prevent occurence of incidents and develop the connection line of the transformer station. However, the implementation process is still facing problems in compensation and site clearance.

"NPTPMB hopes to receive the attention and support of the government and people of An Giang province so that the remaining items can be completed in 2025 to ensure electricity supply for An Giang province and neighboring areas."
