Foreign investors’ net purchase on HCMC bourse hits one-year high
Foreign investors net purchased over VND2,479 billion ($100 million) on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) Friday, the highest level in one year.
They mainly net bought STB of Sacombank, KDH of Khang Dien Holdings and HPG of steel maker Hoa Phat while net selling DGW of Digiworld, VPB of VPBank and HDC of Ha Do Group.
Closing the week-ending session, the benchmark VN-Index, which tracks the HoSE’s performance, gained 7.29 points or 0.77% to 954.53 points on the positive performance of banking stocks.
More than 736.5 million shares changed hands for about VND10,992 billion ($443 million). The major bourse saw 233 losers, including 90 hitting their floor prices, and 213 gainers.
The VN30-Index, which features 30 largest-cap stocks, recorded an increase of 1.29% while the indexes of the mid and small caps VNMidcap and VNSmallcap dropped 1.21% and 1.68%, respectively.
The driving forces of the market gain were banking stocks, with ACB of Asian Commercial Bank expanding 4%; VCB of Vietcombank, CTG of Vietinbank, and BID of BIDV bank all up 3.7%.
A number of other blue chips also gained well, including KDH (6.3 %), POW of PV Power (3.4%), and VIC of Vingroup (2.5%).
Meanwhile, real estate stocks continued to be massively sold off, with many hitting their floor prices. Notably, NVL of Novaland Group and PDR of Phat Dat Real Estate Development JSC saw over 58 million and 55 million shares waiting for buyers, respectively. Tickers in the construction and securities sectors were also in the same situation.
The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse was down 2.58 points or 1.34% to 189.81, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market decreased 0.18 points or 0.26% to 68.62.
