The Vietnamese government has just added the airport to the country's list of international airports accepting foreign entries and exits on e-visas. Van Don is the ninth on the list.

The eight others are Noi Bai in Hanoi, Cat Bi in Hai Phong city (in the north), Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho in Can Tho city, Phu Quoc in Kien Giang province (in the south), Cam Ranh in Khanh Hoa province, Da Nang in Da Nang city, and Phu Bai in Thua Thien-Hue province (in the central region).

Vietnam fully reopened to foreign tourists on March 15 after over two years of being heavily affected by the pandemic.

The government restored pre-pandemic immigration procedures for foreigners and overseas Vietnamese. Specifically, visa exemption is applied to citizens of Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Belarus.

Citizens of these countries are allowed to enter Vietnam for a period of 15 days, regardless of passport type and entry purpose. This policy will be effective from March 15, 2022 to March 14, 2025, with extension to be considered.

Van Don is Vietnam's first privately-owned airport, invested by Sun Group - one of the country's leading real estate developers.
