A One Commune One Product (OCOP) club has been established by Ho Chi Minh City’s Hoc Mon district to promote the area's “unique” products.

The Hoc Mon district People's Committee held a conference on Friday to announce the club’s formation and award certificates for OCOP products.

The club will not only serve as a hub for OCOP products, but also be a platform for sharing experiences in product development and supporting marketing and sales, officials said.

Nguyen Ngoc Luan, director of Global Trade Linkage Company Limited and chairman of the Hoc Mon OCOP Club, said plans were in place to collaborate with e-commerce platform TikTok and a channel-building unit to support local businesses.

This would provide OCOP producers in Hoc Mon with training and guidance on brand development and sales strategies for effective use of the TikTok channel.

“Consumer demand worldwide has started to rise again. In the near future, the Hoc Mon OCOP Club will strive to elevate products from three-star to four-star status, increasing their value and bringing them closer to global distribution,” said Luan.

Nguyen Tuan Anh, vice chairman of the Hoc Mon district People's Committee, said the new club would help businesses, cooperatives and households widen their consumer base. It would also create opportunities to connect local specialties with customers.

The Hoc Mon People's Committee recognized seven products from different enterprises as three-star OCOP offerings for the second phase of 2024. These included vegetarian spring rolls and seafood spring rolls from Tan Loc Thanh; Thai tea from the Thai Kim Thoa; Hue spring rolls from Tan Vinh business; and grilled rice paper (coconut flavor and shrimp paste flavor), non-soaked rice paper, and tube rice noodles from T&Z Production, Trade and Service Company Limited.

To date, the district has 40 products that meet OCOP standards, for which 20 businesses have obtained three-four star ratings.

Anh noted that 12 communes and townships in the district were offering OCOP products. The district will continue to encourage and support entities participating in the OCOP program to increase the number of local specialties, he added.

“With regard to support policies, we will actively register entities to participate in promotional conferences and product introduction festivals in various localities and cities to boost visibility; offer loans through Farmers' Association programs; and develop facilities and locations for these entities to operate and thrive,” he said.
