Iconic Hanoi Opera House introduces new music program for public
Hanoi's local residents and tourists now can enjoy more options for entertainment when the Opera House introduces a new art programme.
Therefore, a music performance, which entitled Vuon Am Nhac (Music Garden), will take place at an outdoor venue in the garden of the iconic building three times a day.
In the morning, from 9 a.m. to 12 a.m., an ensemble of musicians performing traditional music instruments will be on the stage. In the afternoon, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the performance will present both traditional and classic music, while in the evening, from 7.30 p.m. to 10 p.m., it will dedicate to classic and contemporary music genres.

Speaking at the performance premiere last Saturday, deputy director of the Hanoi Opera House, Chu Anh Hung, said that it’s necessary to create interesting yet suitable performance programmes to offer local and international visitors.
“It suits with functions and responsibility of the Hanoi Opera House – one of the nation’s leading cultural establishments,” he said.
All the performances have been conducted by the Centre for Performing Arts and Cultural Events.
To launch the outdoor performance programme, the Opera House has invested to renovate its 3,000-square-metres garden. The outdoor space provides a comfortable and pleasant ambiance with grass carpet and decorative corners for visitors to enjoy check-in photos. The highlight is the stage that has been set up against the side of the hundred-year-old building.
Adding by the lighting effect, the performances are expected to enhance the overall visitors’ experience and contributes to the attractiveness of a famous sightseeing spot.
According to director of the Opera House Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, with diverse performances staged on different time slots, audience including tourists can have a wide option to enjoy the music.
“This allows flexibility for visitors to select the most convenient time to experience the musical ambiance,” she said.
Especially, the Opera House will co-operate with embassies of other countries, aiming to introduce their music to local Vietnamese and other tourists from all over the world.
The performance programme is expected to contribute to the city’s night tourism.
