Speaking at the recent National Digital Economy and 4IR Council (MED4IRN) meeting, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said all these efforts are part of preparations for Malaysia to become an AI-driven nation by 2030.

The meeting also endorsed the proposed National Quantum Policy, beginning with the establishment of a National Quantum Task Force to strengthen preparedness in addressing quantum technology advancements and the Q-Day threat, which can compromise the country’s data security and digital infrastructure, he said.

The PM stressed that such measures are critical to ensure Malaysia remains competitive, resilient and ready to meet future technological challenges.

Q-Day refers to the future point when powerful and stable quantum computers can break current encryption algorithms, rendering them insecure.
