The central province of Thua Thien-Hue is calling for investments of more than VND70 trillion ($2.98 billion) for 16 projects in the Chan May-Lang Co Economic Zone (EZ).

The projects are mainly in tourism, real estate, industrial property and seaport infrastructure areas.

Among the 16 projects are two mega urban area projects with a combined investment of VND50 trillion ($2.13 billion): one the Chan May Urban Area at the heart of the EZ; and the other along the Bu Lu River.

The former will cover 1,000 hectares with an investment capital of VND35 trillion ($1.49 billion), while the latter will be built at a cost of VND14.7 trillion ($627.26 million).

The province is also calling for VND3.42 trillion ($145.9 million) for two sub projects within the Chan May Urban Area.

Four industrial real estate projects are also in need of investment, including the 129-hectare Chan May Lang Co Industrial Park No.2 with an investment capital of about VND800 billion ($34.1 million).

In developing its logistics and seaport infrastructure, Thua Thien-Hue is seeking investment in two wharves at the Chan May Port that can accommodate vessels of up to 70,000DWT. Spanning a total of 20.4 hectares, the wharves will be built at a cost of VND1.6 trillion ($68.3 million) each.

Established in 2006, the Chan May-Lang Co Economic Zone has a favourable geographical position. It is located about 6-7 km from National Highway 1A and the North-South railway, and lies between the Phu Bai and Da Nang airports.

The zone has attracted a great number of investment projects, especially in tourism. As of 2021, the EZ was home to 50 investment projects with a total registered capital of more than VND82 trillion ($3.5 billion), including 12 foreign-invested projects worth over $2.4 billion.
