Vietnam’s leading tech firm FPT Corp. will invest $200 million in building an artificial intelligence (AI) factory, utilizing technology provided by U.S. chip and AI giant Nvidia.

FPT and Nvidia signed a memorandum of understanding for the move on Tuesday. The factory will feature super computers based on Nvidia’s latest technology such as H100 Tensor Core graphics processing unit (GPU).

The AI factory will supply cloud computing for AI research and development in Vietnam, FPT said.

Per the strategic cooperation, the two sides will cooperate to push AI solutions for customers in Vietnam and the world. The AI factory will provide cloud GPU service for FPT’s business customers to speed up AI applications, especially generative AI. It will also help FPT in developing AI-based applications and systems to serve customers.

In addition to the construction of an AI factory, FPT and Nvidia will join hands in training a high-quality workforce and an AI research project with the AI Labs model, while FPT strives to become a service delivery partner in Nvidia’s network, a step for FPT to become a global systems integrator.

In particular, FPT will deliver software, hardware, and cloud computing services, especially generative AI solutions for businesses in the fields of automotive technology, manufacturing, finance, and bancassurance.

FPT is set to integrate Nvidia’s learning contents in its university and high school network, targeting to help 30,000 learners access the program in five years.

Nvidia and FPT will accompany Vietnamese businesses to help Vietnam’s digitalization progress and target of becoming a powerhouse in AI, Nvidia vice president Keith Strier said at the event.
