Bamboo Airways most punctual Vietnamese airline in first six months

Bamboo Airways was the most punctual Vietnamese airline in the first half of the year, with a 96.3% on-time flight rate, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

It has also been the most on time airline in the domestic aviation industry since 2019.

Bamboo Airways is the only carrier among the top three largest domestic airlines in terms of operating scale that has an on-time rate exceeding 90%. The remaining two carriers, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air, have an on-time rate of 85% and 83.2%, respectively.

Cancellation and delay rates across the entire domestic aviation market in the first half was 0.5% and 13.1%, up 7.4 points and down 1.3 points over the same period last year, respectively.

Bamboo Airways saw the lowest cancellation rate of 0.1% and delay rate of 3.7% out of total flights.

In the first half, the total number of international tourists to Vietnam reached 413,000, with domestic travelers hitting 60.8 million, 1.9 times the figure during the same period last year.

Aviation passengers during the period reached 23.3 million, up 74.2% year-on-year and equaling 60% over the same period in 2019, when the pandemic had yet to occur. Of this, domestic passengers hit 20.8 million, a 58.4% rise and up 12%, respectively.

Currently, Bamboo is operating nearly 200 flights per day on 60 domestic and 12 international routes. It prepares to receive its 22nd Airbus A321 and fourth Boeing B787 wide-body plane in the third quarter of this year, according to the carrier.
